About Stephany Herrera

Stephany Herrera serves as a Policy Deputy for the Los Angeles Charter Reform Commission. She recently graduated summa cum laude from the University of Southern California, earning her Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy with an emphasis in law, and a minor in Business.

As a proud Latina raised in a low-income, immigrant family in Palm Springs, California, Stephany has a firsthand understanding of the barriers faced by underprivileged, working class communities. These lived experiences fuel her passion for public service and drive her commitment to advancing equity and social justice through impactful policy and community engagement work. She has worked with non-profits, advocacy groups, research organizations, local government, and the federal government. Most recently, she spent time in Washington, D.C., interning in the Office of Senator Alex Padilla. She has also previously worked for the City of Los Angeles as an intern for the Office of former Council President Paul Krekorian.

She is eager to support the Commission in their historic review of the Los Angeles City Charter and engage with Angelenos throughout this process.
